Niger Delta Militants Threatens Attack Over Alleged Plans To Replace Dokubo
MILITANTS in the Niger
Delta Region have threatened to
resume attacks on oil and gas facilities in the region over alleged plans to
replace the coordinator of the Federal Government Presidential Amnesty Programme,
Prof Charles Dokubo.
Though their claims could not be verified from the
presidency as at press time, the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers, RNDA and the
coalition of nine militant groups gave the warning, Friday, in a
statement issued by leader of the group, 'General' Johnmark Ezonbi They
accused a wanted ex-militant warlord of being the brain behind the ploy. The
statement reads: "We have it on good authority that a wanted ex-militant
leader from Delta State who has been the brain behind attacks on oil facilities
in the Niger Delta region, is trying to impose one of his relatives as coordinator
of the amnesty programme. His ploy is under the guise of the fact that Delta
State is to produce the next coordinator of the programme.
